Ohio State defeats Purdue (Part II)

As promised last night, here is part two of this post. The Boilermakers put up a good fight, especially in the first half, but the Buckeye's heralded freshman class prevailed in the second half. Purdue hung around within 10 points most of the game, and the game was played closer than the 18-point final margin. As an added bonus, Indiana beat Wisconsin tonight allowing the Buckeyes to move into a tie for first place in the Big Ten.

I was a little surprised that the game didn't sell out. I'm sure that more Buckeye fans would have made the trip had the game been on a Saturday. I bought the tickets like 6 weeks ago thinking the game might sell out..... I didn't want to miss out on seeing Ohio State when they came to town. It was great to have my sister from Indy come up for the game as well.

I must admit...I would have enjoyed seeing Oden play.

But he sat on the bench most of the night because he likes to foul too much!

Oden spent a lot of time on the bench, but he did quite a bit in his 21 minutes on the court.

Sorry I didn't invite you Gknee (and others). I thought about making a class announcement, but didn't since the game was on a church evening. And at the time I bought the tickets (before Christmas) I wanted to get them ASAP since I was worried about the game selling out.

Maybe we can have a group outing when the defending national championship losers come to West Lafayette in October....

Matt - wait...does Oden play football too?

No.... Oden doesn't play football (at least not at the college level). It would be quite a site to see him on the football field.

If you want to see Oden play, maybe he'll still be with OSU next year.... Or else maybe whatever NBA team drafts him will play the Pacers sometime.

Thanks for letting me come up last night and cheer the Buckeyes onto victory!! Apparently a close friend of Oden's from his childhood was killed in a car accident Saturday night in Muncie (a Ball State student). There was some question early in the week if Oden would play or not since he attended the funeral Wed. morning.

I had heard about the funeral earlier in the week... But forgot to mention anything last night. I would imagine that he was probably still thinking about that last night.

funeral?

G-knee. One of Oden's good friends was killed in an accident over the weekend. I think the funeral was on Wednesday morning somewhere in Indiana. (see my sister Michelle's comment)

Hope you're enjoying your day off!
